Difference Between Ceramic and
Porcelain Tile
Source

Porcelain. Porcelain tile flooring is made from subjecting ground sand to high temperatures and pressure, resulting in a dense material. Porcelain’s density is what makes it scratch proof; that’s why flooring and tile borders made of porcelain are considered non-porous and highly durable.
Ceramic. Ceramic tile flooring is made from clay mixed with a variety of minerals, which are then processed with heat and sealed with a glaze. Like porcelain, ceramic tile flooring is durable and works well in a kitchen or bathroom; however, it’s not as dense as porcelain and may suffer more wear and tear.

Tips For Choosing Grout

...says David Goodman, a tile contractor for This Old House.
"Not only does grout fill the voids, it makes the floor, wall, or countertop stronger by bonding the tiles together and preventing the edges of a tile from chipping and cracking." Grout helps determine the functionality and durability of a tiled floor, especially in bathrooms and kitchens, which are often high-traffic rooms that are exposed to a lot of moisture and mess. But grout also plays a key aesthetic role; the color of grout will determine whether the eye is drawn to the beauty of the individual tiles or to the overall pattern and sequencing of the tiles across the surface.Continue for more details...

Difference Between Epoxy Grout /

Cement Grout/Cement Mortar

cement grout
Epoxy grout consists of epoxy resin, epoxy hardener and sand/aggregates. In fact, there are various types of resin used in construction industry like epoxy, polyester, polyurethane etc. Though epoxy grout appears to imply the presence of cement material by its name, it does not contain any cement at all. On the other hand, epoxy hardener serves to initiate the hardening process of epoxy grout. It is commonly used for repairing hairline cracks and cavities in concrete structures and can be adopted as primer or bonding agent.
Cement grout is formed by mixing cement powder with water in which the ratio of cement of water is more or less similar to that of concrete. Owing to the relatively high water content, the mixing of cement with water produces a fluid suspension which can be poured under base plates or into holes. Setting and hardening are the important processes which affect the performance of cement grout. Moreover, the presence of excessive voids would also affect the strength, stiffness and permeability of grout. It is versatile in application of filling voids and gaps in structures.
Cement mortar is normally a mixture of cement, water and sand (typical proportion by weight is 1:0.4:3). It is intended that cement mortar is constructed by placing and packing rather than by pouring. They are used as bedding for concrete kerbs in roadwork. They are sometimes placed under base plates where a substantial proportion of load is designed to be transferred by the bedding to other members.

Choosing and Installing Replacement Windows and Doors

Tips to get a Great Deal on your Windows
Window shopping can get quite stressful and confusing. With so many brands, options, and styles to choose from, its easy to get lost. Go through these tips, we assure you will get a great deal if you follow these guidelines.
  1. Decide exactly what you want. What material (vinyl, wood, aluminum, fiberglass), what brand (Milgard, Anderson, Marvin, Superior, Jeld-wen, Superior, etc.), what style (slider, hung, bay, bow, garden, casement, etc.), what glass (Low-E, obscure, tempered, etc.), and what options (grids, hardware, tint). Get a written quote so that you will have something to refer to when price shopping
  2. Go to a window shop which sells material only. This means that they do not offer installation with their windows, they just sell you the windows and doors. Even though you may want to get your windows installed, shopping for windows and installation separately will get you a better overall deal.
  3. Its okay to price shop. Window shopping is much like buying a car. Once you get your initial quote with the sizes, styles, materials, and options you want, call around and see what others will sell the same windows to you for.
  4. Make sure that you are comparing apples to apples. Be mindful that each manufacturer has different styles within the same material. For instance: Milgard has two different vinyl replacement products. One is called Style Line and the other, Tuscany. Each is at a different price point. So, make sure that you specify which product line you are searching for when price shopping and make sure the company gives you a quote using that product. Windowdoormart
